- A R T I S T S T A T E M E N T -
I started being serious about photography in the late 1960's, when I bought my first 35mm SLR film camera and signed up for the comprehensive correspondence course offered by the former Famous Photographers School of Westport, Connecticut. I completed the course and enjoyed practicing my newly-learned skills for the next few years.
Soon after moving to the Berkshires in Massachusetts, I joined the venerable Berkshire Museum Camera Club. During the many years that I was a member of the Club, I won many awards for my color slides in competitions within the Club and ones sponsored by the New England Camera Club Council (NECCC). I attended many of the annual NECCC conferences, gaining addition knowledge and inspiration from their numerous and varied lecture programs.
Since year 2000, while continuing to photograph, I have been framing much of my best work for exhibition. Some of my framed pictures are prints made from color slides or negatives. All such "conventional" photographic prints have been made by high-quality commercial photo labs. My collection also includes many digital prints that I have made myself , using Adobe Photoshop to enhance the images or to introduce artistic modifications. The many, more recent works are digital prints made from digital camera images. Of those, I printed small and medium size prints myself and had large prints made by a high-quality commercial photo lab. My new canvas and metal prints, are made by commercial photo labs. I have exhibited my photographs in several group shows and arts & crafts shows, and have had major exhibits of my work in galleries in the Berkshires.
